PART ONE, DAYS 1-10

The Evansville Experience

• Discovering the city and its history + excursions (3 days)
• Active engagement with host families
• Three full days at a local high school
• Two full days at the University of Evansville

Travel from Romania to Evansville

Welcome!

  • Welcome program at the University of Evansville
  • Breakfast with University of Evansville President and business leaders
  • Orientation: American Cultural/Educational Program Overview
  • Educational Information Session
  • Travel to downtown Evansville
  • Sightseeing and historical lecture
  • Museum visit and planetarium screening
  • Free time on campus

Days 3-4 – April 5-6

Weekend with host families

Students spend an entire weekend with their host families. Attend family events, gatherings, and activities, or enjoy some BBQ, movies, or sports/entertainment.

Day 5 – April 7

Entire day at the University of Evansville

• Entire day at the University of Evansville
• Welcome – Dr. Rachel Carpenter - Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
• Campus tour
• Student interaction session: American culture and college life
• Participate in a University class
• Lunch at UE’s Ridgeway University Center
• Afternoon Hands-On Experiences
• Afternoon free-time or healthcare visits:
Students interested in healthcare may attend a tour to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital or Orthopaedic Associates
• International College Student Panel Discussion: Life in the USA from an International Student’s Perspective
• Group dinner at Turoni’s Pizza

Day 6 – April 8

University of Evansville Sessions and Visit to Toyota Motor Manufacturing

  • Entire day at the University of Evansville
  • Tour of Stone Family Center for Health Sciences
  • Student Engagement Session: Getting Involved and Connected in College
  • Participate in a University class 
  • Tour of Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Indiana: Exploring the history of Toyota from its early role in the textile industry to its automotive production today. Tram tour through the Toyota manufacturing facility; an insight into the Toyota Production system.

Afternoon University Life Sessions:

  • Keys to Academic Success: Tapping into the Office of Student Success
  • Exploring University Majors and Fields: discovering innovative fields, industries, and careers
  • Sports and Entertainment: What’s the hype about college sports in the USA?
  • College Admission Process: Understanding the College Application Process – for international students
  • Life Beyond the Classroom: The Extras
  • Schroeder Family School of Business session
  • Career Services: Career Readiness and Success – resumes, internships, networking, job search, etiquette in the workplace, interviews, professional communication
  • Attend University of Evansville basketball team practice and/or baseball team practice
  • Local High Schools’ Track Competition at Memorial High School

• Attending Classes
• Student Activity and Panel Discussion
• HS Girls Tennis Matches and Free Time
• International Students’ Club welcome/presentations
• Tailgating and Free Time

Extra Activity:
Free Time – Fitness at BFIT East Side

• High School Life in the US – visiting North High School
• Welcome and Tour
• Meet and Greet with Host Students
• Visit Classrooms – attend classes
• North HS Student Presentation
• Question & Answer with Principal Skinner
• Visit Escalade Sports
Evening- Farewell American BBQ/Cookout for students, host families, faculty/staff

• Travel to Kentucky
• Visit the city of Owensboro; lunch/sightseeing
• Visit the National Corvette Museum
• Evening- Family Entertainment Center: bowling, games, laser tag, movies and pizza

PART TWO, DAYS 11-15:

Chicago

Discover the extraordinary architecture, parks, gardens and museums, and admire the stunning views of the skyline of the “Windy City”

• Depart for Chicago, Illinois
• Check in at the hotel in Chicago
• Dinner at The Original Gino’s

• Walking tour of the city
• Visit the Chicago Cultural Center
• Visit the Water Tower
• Stroll around Could Gate – The Bean, Millenium Park and the Monument
• Exploring typical Chicago street food
• Visit the Art Institute of Chicago
• FREE TIME FOR SHOPPING/Walk on the Magnificent Mile

Chicago

• Walking tour: explore the Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain
• Visit the Field Museum: state of the art science museum
• Visit the Shedd Aquarium
• Walk to the Navy Pier
• Free time for exploration and shopping
• The Magnicity Experience – The 360 View of Chicago
